Scholarship Information for DHS Seniors
Contact Ms. Hudgeons for more information about scholarships.
The following has been sent to senior advisors throughout the year. This is a reminder of those scholarships and how to access them. Remember the number one source of scholarship money is with the college you plan to attend. Also have your parents ask at their place of employment concerning scholarship money available.
Seniors need to begin filling out their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). FAFSAs are required by all colleges and universities and are used to determine nearly all types of grants and loans including those that are federal, state, and college-sponsored. The FAFSA also determines your eligibility for work-study programs. Financial aid is usually awarded on first-come, first-serve basis. Therefore, the earlier you submit the FAFSA after January 1st, the better.
Parents need to know that the number one source of college scholarship is the institution in which their child will attend followed by the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship. More information about the Academic Challenge can be found on the ADHE web site at www.adhe.edu
